Josh Childress was in for a visit. Like the idea, but not sure about how to grab him. He is restricted so Atlanta can match reasonable contract offers. Generally it takes unreasonable offers to pry RFA away and the Bucks aren't in a position to do unreasonable, even slightly unreasonable.

However with Atlantas cap situation, Bibby FA, Marvin FA, Zaza Fa there is a possibility they aren't interested in matching reasonable. A further bonus is Childress doesn't seem too happy about the possibility of playing there after the last contract negotiations went sour and feels like he's a starter where thats not a sure thing with the Hawks.

He would more than likely be a starter here imo. Not a bad choice if the contract doesn't kill us.

Dominic James is an interesting add to the Summer League team. Obviously Jennings, Alexander, Luc, perhaps Meeks are Bucks sure to be on the roster and will be fun to watch in that setting.

Szymon Szewczyk also on teh squad lol, Chris Richard caught my eye as well, liked him in college. Rounding out the rest are Juan Palacios F, Salim Stoudamire SG/PG, Mohammed Tangara F, Lorrenzo Wade PF, Will McDonald C.

Don't know if Amir can't be on there or what but he isn't listed. Perhaps we view him as definitely the starter?

I don't like the addition of Childress, to me he's more like a SG, and we already have Redd at SG, unless he's coming off the bench, which is highly unlikely. Plus he probably will ask for at least $5 million a yr as his contract with the Greek team is already $6 million a yr, meaning we will need to spend extra money to buy out the contract, and for that much money, I'd rather spend on our two big holes - PF or a strong SF who can help rebounding and defending. Childress is good at offense and a good passer but he is not a good defender and he is not a true SF.

Anyway our #1 priority right now should be PF/SF, and if we have $5-7 million to spend, here is a list of FA within that price range we should pursue -
1. Birdman
2. Millsap
3. Gooden
4. Warrick
5. Barnes
6. Childress

I am a bit surprised at that scouting report as Childress is 6'8" and generally viewed as more of a 3. Generally he is viewed as a good defender as well. Several times he was mentioned as Atlantas most fundamentally sound defender.

He is not actually regarded as a good shooter, akward release and all that. He shoots well enough that its not an issue, but his efficiency is off the charts due to him being a phenominal garbage man type, finishing breaks and tracking down boards more SF like in that regard as well. His PER would place him 2nd on the Bucks behind Redd and narrowly edging Bogut. He rebounds at 5.7 a game which is more than fine at SF. I think he'd be just fine.

Millsap is going to get a huge offer from someone (and he's restricted), more than CV imo. We just don't have that kind of Money, I think Barnes is spent or a product of the system or both, Warrick is restricted and still wanted by Memphis.

Birdman is agood idea though, I believe that Denver still wants him and unless we are willing to outbid them they'll keep him. Gooden is not a bad idea either though I suspect he'll get MLE sized offer from someone, perhaps the Spurs will Keep him.

One More point Childress has no buy out with his Greek team, he can opt out after each year and pays no penalty.

I agree Millsap will be most expensive among those 6, but I dont think he will necessary get something more than $7 million/yr unless Boozer is leaving Utah, btw Matt do you know how much we may have to pursue the FA this summer? I think if we have $5-7 million, we should be able to outbid Denver or Spurs to get Birdman or Gooden.

Back to Childress, imo our priority should be PF not the SF as we at least have JA and prince, but we have almost no one at PF. Dont tell me Amir is or will be better than any of the PFs in my list.

Houston is now at the cap with holes to fill. We can send a package of the Spurs to Houston for Landry - helps them and helps us too. If the Bucks don't thoroughly pursue this; I will be very unhappy. The Prince at 3 and Landry splitting time at both positions, with a very cap-friendly price? The Rockets have trade exceptions and so do we. I don't see how anyone can be against this move.
